The Psychiatric Nursing course offers a specialized training on various factors involved in assessing, addressing and monitoring the mental health and behavioural condition of an individual. MEDICAL SURGICAL NURSING

PAEDIATRIC NURSING
A paediatric nurse focuses on providing medical care to children, right from the infant stage to teenage years. Due to the rapid growth that occurs during childhood, the health of children is distinct from that of the adults and therefore requires special care, which a paediatric nurse is qualified to offer. As a qualified pediatric nurse you may later choose to specialize in a particular field related to child-healthcare, for instance, neurology, oncology, anaesthetics, etc.

COMMUNITY HEALTH NURSING
A community health nurse is responsible for improving the well-being of communities they serve. This is done by educating them about illnesses, diseases, prevention and safe health practices. Apart from working in healthcare institutions, community clinics and schools, these qualified nurses also work in coordination with several NGOs to serve patients with low incomes. A good number of professional community health nurses prefer to serve in economically disadvantaged individuals living in rural areas.

Some of the responsibilities of a community health nurse include:
- Educating individuals on disease prevention and how to live a healthy lifestyle.
- Offering in-house treatment for individuals in need. Services offered at home may include pain management, wound care, blood pressure monitoring, medication administration, etc.
- Carrying out health screening for diseases/disorders such as obesity, hypertension, high-cholesterol levels, diabetes, etc.
- Periodically participating in community outreach programs at schools, workplaces and hospitals.
